The Pariacaca Collective uses cosmic elements such as stars and mountains as metaphors to reflect on human existence, exploring the concept of belonging and connection, in a cross between ancient stories and rituals from pre-Hispanic culture and contemporary life. Quyllur α, “the brightest star” in Quechua, addresses the human experience of confronting suffering, underlining our connection with the stars in the instinctive act of seeking light and guidance, and in the idea that we, humans, we are made of “stardust”. The encounter with a fictional star leads to an immersive exploration that combines ancient ceremonies with modern technology. Filmed across diverse locations in Lima, the film adopts a raw visual style reminiscent of proto-photography, presenting an introspective journey that weaves between the physical world and the supernatural realms.
