Hoda Afshar

Hoda Afshar (1983) was born in Tehran (Iran). With a degree in Fine Art– Photography, she completed her PhD thesis in Creative Arts at Curtin University. She started her career as a documentary photographer in Iran in 2005. She has been living in Australia since 2007, where she practices as a visual artist and also lectures in photography and fine art. Her work, widely exhibited and represented in numerous private and public collections, explores the nature and possibilities of documentary image-making. She has also been shortlisted for many prestigious art awards and won various prizes. She is represented by Milani Gallery in Brisbane (Australia).
