Rui Costa

Rui Costa (1989) was born in Vila Franca de Xira (Portugal). He discovered his interest in documentary and authorial projects while studying at the Portuguese Institute of Photography (Lisbon), in 2020. Two years later, he attended the Masterclass Narrativa with the photographer Mário Cruz. His essay ‘Uma Azeitona Bordada em Azul’ won the Fnac New Talents 2023 award (photography category). He has been a teacher at the Portuguese Institute of Photography (Lisbon) since 2023. In 2024, Costa was selected by the Bienal Fotografia do Porto to join the FUTURES platform.
