A Lake Above the Desert
Um lago acima do deserto
In Um lago acima do deserto [A Lake Above the Desert], Gonçalo C. Silva reflects on the tension between the natural and artificial dimensions of Europe's largest man-made lake, the Alqueva. The project exposes the metaphorical submerged vascular system that sustains this body of water. At the same time, it turns its gaze to the contrasting, dry and arid shorelines, raising awareness of climate change’s impact on this territory and the growing dependence on artificial systems to ensure its survival.
