The first volume of Witch Hunt, this project examines the rising global phenomenon of human rights abuses linked to harmful practices associated with accusations of witchcraft and ritual attacks—a crisis that has claimed over 20,000 recorded victims across 60 countries in the past decade. Geoghegan investigates a series of unresolved murders of healers accused of witchcraft in the Amazonian community of Balsapuerto, Peru, exploring the intersection of indigenous beliefs, violence, and political power. The Banished of Balsapuerto seeks to cast light on these events and their impact on the community.
