Donja Nasseri (1990) was born in Düsseldorf (Germany). She studied at the Kunstakademie Münster and at the Düsseldorf Art Academy. Her work, awarded with numerous prizes, has been shown in renowned group exhibitions in Germany, South Korea, among others. As the daughter of an Afghan father and an Egyptian-German mother, she has a sharp view on the diversity of possible narrations and the truths associated with them. The changes in tradition, culture and (gender) identity make up the conceptual core of artist’s oeuvre, which is primarily based on photography as a ‘carrier of memories’, as a medium of documentation and fictional manipulation.
