Ihar Hancharuk (1986) is a post-documentary photographer and visual artist from Belarus. His projects explore the themes of national and personal identity, collective memory, contemporary issues, and the influence of mass media on the world, making use of photography, modern digital archives and video. Concepts of patriarchy and violence are also present in his work, influenced by his experience in mandatory military service, as well as social issues and the food crisis. After the events in Belarus in 2020, he has been working on a series of projects about propaganda and violence in the region from a historical perspective.
